“who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself
a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
Titus 2:14

A good egg is used to reference a nice, friendly, decent person. This is the opposite of someone who is unreliable or unkind (a bad egg).
Today is Good Friday and why is it called that? Growing up it signified the official day I could go barefoot and was a good day for daddy to plant his garden. I knew Easter was around the corner which meant a new dress, egg hunts, and a sunrise service at church but the gravity of Good Friday didn’t resonate with me until I gave my life to Christ.
For Christians all over the globe, this is the most crucial day of the year. This day is Good Friday because Jesus, in obedience to His Father, willingly sacrificed Himself suffering a brutal death… all for us.
We celebrate because we’ve been set free from the bondage of sin. We know our sinful nature and we will never measure up to the perfection of Jesus, but we can always strive to be a good egg. We want to live a life pleasing to God because Jesus paid the ultimate price, His life on that Friday so long ago. So today is a beautiful reminder of how deep God’s love is for us.
