A leap of faith

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

A leap of faith means to believe in something which has not been proven or seen and some are skeptical of the outcome or its existence. This is a metaphor for the faith we have in God.
I know when my husband met my parents for the first time, he was a little anxious. We didn’t exactly do things the traditional way by him asking my parents for my hand in marriage because we were already engaged before he met them, he had no job, and the wedding was only a couple of months away.
I remember during that time in our life, many decisions had to be made and how do you know you’re making the right choice? Failure was never an option or even a thought because we both believed in our hearts everything would work out. I know without a doubt, many people were praying for us as we embarked on this adventure without being fully prepared.
Retrospectively, I can see God’s hand in every decision we made because I believe we were placed exactly where we were supposed to be. We could not let fear allow us not to move forward so we just had to keep our faith, some call it blind faith. But that’s what having faith means. Believing in something so strongly, even though you can’t see it, you know it to be true. Hebrews 11:1 could not be more true, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Forty years later, I am embarking on another adventure with this book, and I am taking another leap of faith, but I know the Lord’s hand is again at work. I am trusting Him every step of the way and making every effort to put my best foot forward. Although the process takes longer than I want it to, I have to remain faithful that it is in His perfect timing, not mine.
