Bundle of joy

“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

John 15:11

Bundle of joy if often said in reference to a newborn baby but can also be said about someone who brings us happiness. This phrase derives from the fact a baby is swaddled and brings us joy.

There’s nothing like the joy in a child’s face when they wake on Christmas morning to find that special gift under the tree. Sometimes it’s the gift they didn’t ask for but it was just what they wanted. They received something specifically purchased for them.

That’s exactly what God has done for us. He’s given us all the most perfect gift ever given; Jesus. We didn’t deserve it or do anything special to receive it, all we have to do is accept it. This Christmas, as believers, we need to share our special gift with others so they too can know true joy. Joy is defined as a feeling of happiness or pleasure but the joy we receive in Christ is a joy that is constant and doesn’t flee during the difficult times.

Baby Jesus was the original bundle of joy and we have the privilege of receiving His joy when we believe. This joy captivates our heart and changes us into the image of Christ because we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Psalm 51:12 reminds us, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” We’re to be obedient servants with a pure heart and a willing spirit so others will see the goodness of God in us.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
