Change your tune

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Change your tune means to abandon an original opinion and now have a completely different viewpoint, usually in a way that’s more agreeable or pleasant. This originated when the lyrics of songs were changed to please the audience.

The mornings are now crisp as the temperatures have significantly dropped overnight beginning the transformation into another season. I love how our Creator has perfectly designed nature to continually bring Him glory. The leaves on the deciduous trees are beginning to change because the production of chlorophyll is slowing down and will eventually stop. As the leaf is dying, the carotenoids present in the leaf is now visible to reveal its colors.

Only God can make something that is dying and turn it into something beautiful. It makes me think of the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” Notice the exclamation point. This mark is used to express utmost importance with strong feelings to make a statement. Paul is reminding us that when we die to ourselves, we are restored, redeemed, and reconciled with Christ. Our old self has been wiped away and we’re now a new creation living with the purpose to please our Heavenly Father.

We are like a leaf. Our true beauty is only revealed when we surrender our lives to Jesus because our old self has died. We have changed our tune. We now have a different perspective on life because we now have faith and know this world is only temporary.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
