Get your ducks in a row

“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.

I am going there to prepare a place for you.”

John 14: 2

Get your ducks in a row is said to motivate organization or make to preparations needed for an event. This is a metaphor to how orderly ducklings follow mama duck.

I love Christmas! I love every single thing the season brings, especially the wonderful traditions our family started when our kids were small. Christmas is a time for family and friends to come together to celebrate the most precious gift ever given to mankind, Jesus.

When we’re expecting a baby, most of us decorate a nursery, assemble a crib, and have what we need all ready for when the baby arrives. Mary didn’t have that opportunity. She was mandated to travel to her hometown to register for a census in the last stages of her pregnancy. When they finally arrived in Bethlehem, all the rooms were taken so they were forced to lodge in a stable.

It appears they were unprepared to have any baby but it was all part of God’s divine plan. Jesus humbly came into the world to reiterate He came for everyone. There was no crib for an infant so He was placed in the animal’s feeding trough which was another beautiful imagery of Jesus being the “Bread of Life”.

I think it’s so neat that Jesus was born in a stable because Joseph couldn’t find a room yet Jesus came to prepare a permanent room for us in His Father’s house. Jesus says in John 14:2, “I am going there to prepare a place for you.” Jesus wants us to be where He is, with our Heavenly Father forever. All we have to do is get our ducks in a row and believe.

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
