“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19

Love at first sight is the experience of instantaneously falling in love with someone the first time you meet. This perhaps originated from experiences of partners who truly fell in love with each other upon first glance.
I remember going to the hospital to have our first baby like it was yesterday. It wasn’t as dramatic as they make it on tv and my husband was disappointed he didn’t need to speed. As I relive the memories, a wave of emotions come over me. I remember being so anxious about the uncertainties the day would bring because I wanted a natural birth and I was afraid I couldn’t handle it. Would I remember all I learned in class? I did remember my breathing techniques but the most vivid memory I have about the entire process is the minute I laid my eyes on my baby, it was love at first sight.
Genuine love is precious and as a mother, I know what that love looks like. We just celebrated Mother’s Day and it’s said, “There’s no love like a mother’s love”, and I see why this’s true. The cord is cut after the birth, but the emotional strings to this child will last forever. These tiny humans have been formed in us and hear our heart beat from the inside. Psalm 127:3(ESV) says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” All children are a gift from God, for us to nurture rather we’ve birthed or adopted them. God has entrusted their care into our hands for us to teach them the love of Jesus.
Just as we love our children with unconditional love, God loves us even more. He displays His love through His glorious creation to get our attention to remind us of who He is and how much He loves us.
