My heart and soul

“The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him.”

Proverbs 23:24

My heart and soul is to be committed and have complete devotion towards someone; the focus of energy. This comes from the core of our being, our heart and soul.

Today is Father’s Day. A day set apart to celebrate the man in our lives who loved, guided, and nurtured us into the person we are today. Not all of us had a father in our life, but for those of us who did, we are blessed.

There’s nothing like a godly father who will always stand by our side, support us, give encouragement, and discipline when we need it. A man who will lead by example. A lovely illustration of a father who gave love without conditions is in the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-31. This dad had a greedy son who has decided he wants his inheritance and squanders it all away. In desperation, the wayward child came back home and not only does the father greet him with open arms, but runs out to his lost son.

This is a beautiful analogy of how our Heavenly Father feels towards us. He longs for us to have a relationship with Him so we can reflect His goodness and grace. Just as the man accepted his son back into the family, God will always be willing to accept us. All we have to do is repent and ask for forgiveness and we will be embraced by a loving Father who will always give us unconditional love.

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
