On pins and needles
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your request to God.

Philippians 4:6
ON PINS AND NEEDLES
To be on pins and needles means to be very nervous or anxious regarding the wait for an outcome of a certain situation. This originated from the uncomfortable sharp feeling experienced when recovering from when our limbs fall asleep.
Why do we have such a hard time releasing ourselves from worry? My concerns I give to God are like a boom-a-rang, they always come back to me. I find myself worrying more about things my children are dealing with than when with my own issues. Most of us want to feel like we’re in control, but in essence sometimes, things just have to play out because they’re out of our control.
Yesterday, the entire lesson at church was about worry and how to deal with it. The most powerful sentence was, “How can we move forward if we’re anchored to worry? Isn’t that a great question? When we literally stop and think about the analogy, the anchor was created to stop any movement so if we’re tied to it, we become stagnant in our spiritual growth.
So, regardless of what we’re anxious or preoccupied with in our thoughts which keep us on pins and needles, when we cut the rope and give it all to God, He restores our peace because we can trust His unchanging, unending, and undeniable love He has for us.
