Rain on my parade

“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire;”

1 Thessalonians 5:19

Rain on my parade means to spoil the fun or dampen the mood. It’s to stifle the forward progress of something causing it to be inactive.

If I’ve learned anything in my lifetime, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. Just because I’ve laid out a plan to accomplish what I desire, doesn’t mean it will materialize. But I’ve also learned God works in all things, we just have to keep our faith. We have a tendency to forget the omnipotent power of God and allow the constraints we’ve erected to hold us back.

I’ve just started a new Bible study about the armor of God and right off the bat, the author reminds us that prayer is the component which activates all the armor. God has given us specific pieces to protect ourselves against the evil forces in this world so we can be victorious. When we go to the Lord in prayer, we become equipped to accomplish things beyond the scope of our imagination. Nothing can rain on our parade when we’re standing on His truth because we’re girded with the power of the Holy Spirit.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
