See in a new light

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:

The old has gone, the new is here!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

See in a new light means to have a different perspective or outlook on something or someone, usually in a more positive way. This could have originated from the biblical truth of light represents God and when one starts believing, a change of heart occurs.

Christmas is over and it’s time to clean up the house and pack up the decorations. The excitement, anticipation, and family gatherings have past so it can be somewhat depressing. But on the horizon is the hope of the new year and the older I get, the faster they roll around.

The start of a new year is the opportunity for us to make positive changes in our lives and rid ourselves of bad habits. I always plan to start a regular exercise program and start out zealously, but as the year wanes, so does my enthusiasm. When we don’t deliberately choose to change, old patterns return and progress ceases to exist.

The same is true in our spiritual life. We can’t get complacent in our faith. God desires for us to commune with Him and foster a relationship so we can be continually transformed into the image of Christ. John 1:5 reminds us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not understood it.” The world doesn’t grasp the concept of needing Jesus, but in the Scripture, He’s referred to as the “light of the world”.

Just as the old year has gone, so has our old self because we’re now a new creation in Christ. This new year is the opportunity for us to allow Jesus to spiritually illuminate us so we’re able to see things in a new light and others will see His reflection in us.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
