The truth will set you free

“You, my brothers, were called to be free.”

Galatians 5:13

The truth will set you free means to experience peace when you accept or admit the truth in a situation; the ability to move forward. This comes from John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Today is the fourth of July; a day set aside for all Americans to celebrate our independence. We’ve become a prideful nation and fallen away from the godly roots this nation was founded on. We take our freedom for granted and no longer submit to the will of God. But there is hope for renewal when we pray.

Throughout history, there have been documented revivals where the Spirit of God has been unleashed and spread across our nation to bring spiritual awakening. As I looked this up, I was amazed at how many started on college campus.’ These movements started when two or more gathered with the burden to pray for restoration with God among the students. Just recently we saw this take off like wildfire at Asbury College.

The entire key verse of Galatians 5:13 says, “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.” Jesus is reminding us that freedom is not having the liberty to carelessly do as we wish.

When Jesus speaks about truth in John 8:32, He’s talking about the spiritual truth of salvation and freedom from the bondage of sin. I’m so grateful that we live in this great country where we’re allowed to openly worship our God and boldly share the gospel because His desire is all will know “the truth”.

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
